MSD families call to vote out members of Broward County School Board
SUNRISE, Fla. (CBS12) — The families of victims of the Stoneman Douglas shooting urged Broward County residents to vote for new school board members during a news conference Thursday.
MSD families gathered at the BB&T Center’s Chairman’s Club to express concern for the safety of students for the upcoming school year.
“We just want everyone to go out and vote. That’s why we’re here today,” Andrew Pollack said at the news conference.
The families say that the Broward County School Board has failed to adequately prepare students and teachers in all 234 schools for the upcoming school year and that there is not a unified plan in place to keep students safe.
“The same gentleman who was in charge on February 14th, when our loved ones were murdered in that school, is still in charge,” one member of the group said.
